Black Narcissus - Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger

Black Narcissus is remembered as one of the most sensual films in History, and Michael Powell considered it "the most erotic film" he ever made. When it was released in the United States, some scenes were banned at the requesto of the Catholic Legion of Decency.

But seeing Black Narcissus through the prism of sensuality and sex would be very narrow. Black Narcissus is also a film about leadership, failure, loneliness and, if you like politics, it is also a very British farewell to India. If you're more on the technical side, the special effects were very unique for the 1940s, and so is the photography.
